- African Art Collection
- This beautiful Janus drum features two women standing back-to-back holding a pedestal or stool with a Drum on their heads. Baga women traditionally carry large vessels on their heads. The drum core has two faces, one on each side. The leather drumhead is attached to the drum with twine tightened over pegs around the drum. The two women dressed in African clothing stand on a small plinth. The drum is old, likely dating back mask to pre independence from France. The drum shows signs of use and is in excellent condition.
