The Asantehene and his court

- The Ashanti king ‘Asantehene” on his royal litter under the honorary umbrella, surrounded by fifteen servants and his regalia. The Asantehene wears a gold crown and robe and carries a royal staff. The servants around the Asantehene carry royal swords, a pot, speaking rod, book, and other important insignia of power. The metal alloy believed to be copper, brass, and/or bronze has an aged patina. The cast metal artwork is in excellent condition.

The highly stylized Akuaba dolls are often worn by children and are believed to promote fertility.
