The blanket has repeated red, yellow, green, black and white rectangles produced in strips and sewn together to form a blanket. Black and white patterns are woven into some of the rectangles. The pattern of the blanket is unique.
PROCESS:. The strips for the blanket were likely woven on a double heddle loom. The looms were traditional to the area and have existed throughout West Africa since the 1300s.
