- Printed 1981 Etching and Aquatint Comes from series “Historia de Don Quijote de la mancha.” At the time, Dalí was struggling with Parkinson’s like symptoms in his right hand. Many biographers of Dalí interpret the painting as his personal fight with the physical ailments of aging. Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, Marquis of Dalí de Púbol was a Spanish surrealist artist born in Figueres, Catalonia. He is known for paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, writing, film, and jewelry. Despite his many talents, his work The Persistence of Memory (1931) is known worldwide and is his most recognizable creation. Salvador Dalí was highly imaginative and enjoyed an eccentric lifestyle. In his early years, he had a brother who passed away and was told by his parents that he was his brother’s reincarnation. His parents supported, if not motivated, him to create sophisticated artowrks and he was sent to drawing school at the age of 12. He adopted surrealism and cubism as his main styles and was heavily influenced by Picasso, who was actually a fan of his work.
