Description
On November 24, 1877, the USS Huron, an iron-hulled, sloop rigged steamer, wrecked along the shores of Nags Head, NC during heavy seas and dense fog. This wrecking, and the 98 men who were lost in it, played an important role in the development of the US Lifesaving Service. This mini-documentary explores the history of the USS Huron, and the current scientific study of her cultural remains.
