The conference will focus on the concept that libraries should be inclusive environments available to all individuals wishing to use the many resources that they supply. By providing access to computers, internet, research instruction, events, classes and specialized support for the disabled, libraries may be the only free resource available to individuals and communities. Libraries also offer facilities where academic groups and communities can congregate and discuss local and national topics. Providing these services and spaces to a diverse mix of people creates an environment where staff must be aware of how their discussions and interactions can be interpreted by the communities they are hoping to serve. We hope to provide guidance for library staff on ways to better navigate their roles and responsibilities in creating safe environments by embracing concepts that promote an understanding of diversity.
We appreciate the generosity of our conference sponsors! Without their support, the Paraprofessional Conference would not be possible. Please visit their websites to see the exceptional services they provide.
