Z.Z.Z. Club

The 19th Amendment, ratified in 1920, provided for female suffrage. Coupled with the end of WWI, this expansion of the franchise contributed to a decade exuberance known as the Roaring Twenties. Members of the “Z.Z.Z. Club” depicted here, including Pearl Wright (second from the left), daughter of the president of the school, reflect the new spirit. This photograph appeared in 1923 in the debut volume of the Tecoan, the new annual for the Teachers College.
