Helmick discusses his early life as the son of an Army officer, graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy, artillery service in the Philippines (1913-1915) and along the Mexican border (1915-1916). W.W. I service in France and Germany is recounted as are peacetime assignments at Fort Benjamin Harrison and Fort Sill. |
