Proof adduced by both parties before the Sheriff of Inverness, upon a petition and complaint presented to him at the instance of William Duff of Muirtoun, Duncan Fraser merchant in Inverness, and others heretors of salmon-fishings upon the river of Ness, and claiming right to the island in the said river, against the magistrates and town-council of Inverness, for stopping them from cutting the wood in the said island.
