Abstract "One of the main purposes of the present study was the implementation of the materials and methods developed in the Glenn-Glidden project by organizing teaching programs in the curricula of eleven school systems. Seven schools located in the state of Iowa participated in this extended experimentation through the cooperation of the Department of Public Instruction at Des Moines. As a part of this project, these schools received matching funds from the National Foundation on the Arts and Humanities. The schools were Aurelia Community High School, Camanche High School, Estherville High School, Fairfield High School, Muscatine High School, Sac City Community High School, and West Des Moines Valley High School. These schools represent systems of varying sizes and community situations. The community schools of Sibley, Iowa, also incorporated this course into their curriculum, but did not receive the above-mentioned funds. Data from Sibley was also included in the present study. One system in Illinois has used the materials as part of this study--the Prospect High School, Mount Prospect, Illinois. In Berea, Ohio, two large high schools employed the materials and methodology during the 1967-68 school year. These three schools also provided data for this research."--Leaf 31.
