| Abstract | This autobiography chronicles the days of Dr. Ludwig Wuellner, Julia Culp, Elena Gerhardt, Raimund von Zur-Muehlen, Marcella Sembrich and many another name celebrated in the 'Golden age' of song. As a youngster in his twenties, Bos played the first performance of Brahms' 'Vier Ernste Gesaenge,' with the composer in the audience. In fifty years of memorable experiences since that time, Bos has garnered a rich harvest of musical wisdom and experience. Out of his vast store of knowledge, Bos has written a book which is required reading for every ambitious accompanist and singer, and which will aid every music lover in gaining new understanding and appreciation of the masterpieces of song literature. To write his musical testament, Bos has chosen Ashley Pettis, well-known musician and musical writer, Columbia University faculty member and director of The Composers' Forum in New York City. |
