Abstract Britten was a major pioneer of English Chamber Opera and was the creator of some of the most famous British operas including Peter Grimes, Billy Budd and the Chamber opera The Turn of the Screw. He is also remembered for his War Requiem. This book tells the story of his life, including his lifelong collaboration with his friend Peter Pears and his talent as a highly respected accompanist.
