Abstract This report presents the concept for a multidisciplinary research program aimed at establishing the science base for the design and synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles for hysteresis heating, with potential applications ranging from novel composites processing techniques to alternative cancer treatments. Magnetic materials are used in a wide range of applications and designed for maximum efficiency or minimized hysteresis loss.
