General noteThis mission was located at the Indian village of Kaskaskia, near the present Utica, La Salle Co., Ill. The village was occupied by the Kaskaskias and other tribes of the Illinois confederacy. About 1700 it was abandoned, the Kaskaskias removing to the present Kaskaskia, near the mouth of the Illinois River.
