Abstract This book examines the transition from the Baroque era to the Classical period by focusing on the arias of operas composed between 1755 and 1772 by composers Johann Adolf Hasse, Niccolò Jommelli, and Johann Christian Bach, showing how elements of opera seria contributed to the formation of the later Viennese Classical style.
