Abstract Baron von Eisenstein is supposed to go to jail for eight days for a minor offense, but decides to attend a ball first. When the governor of the jail comes to take him away he finds the Baroness entertaining a former suitor. To avoid difficulty, she persuades the suitor to pose as her husband and go to jail for a night but when she goes to the ball alone she faces other complications.
