| Abstract | Shy peasant Nemorino falls in love with Adina from a distance but comes to believe that she is in love with Belcore. Listening to Adina tell the story of Tristan and Iseult, he becomes convinced that by taking a magic love potion he will gain Adina's love. Following a series of missteps, Nemorino enlists in the army so that he can earn enough money to buy more of the so called love potion. Adina, aware of Nemorino's love buys his enlistment contract and professes her love for him. |
