| Abstract | It is May of 1945. World War II is over, and nearly 3,000 German soldiers are incarcerated in a POW camp overseen by the Canadian officer Captain Miller. The prisoners learn that the Canadians are harboring two deserters; one of then Ensign Grauber, is brazenly unrepentant and contemptuous. The Germans refuse to recognize the fact that the war is over; they bring the deserters before a makeshift court martial, convict them, and sentence them to die before a firing squad... |
