White knights, in this context, are men and women who enter into relationships with damaged people in an attempt to save them. The stages of development and deterioration are based on principles from research in the fields of communication, folklore, and psychology. The collection seeks to merge the material and immaterial; it mixes concrete images, a grounding narrative, and the language of conversation with wildly juxtaposed images, synaesthetic moments, and layered or intentionally problematic syntax.;
