Abstract "These Studies in Eastern Chant are designed to provide a forum for work in a field in which interest is rapidly growing and much research is being carried out. This first volume is also intended as a tribute to two pioneers in the field of Byzantine, H. J. W. Tillyard and Egon Wellesz. The contributions, covering a wide range of topics, are by Gabor Devai, Markos Ph. Dragoumis, Gudrun Engberg, Jelena Milojkovic-Djuric, Jorgen Raasted, Dimitrije Stefanovic, Maria Stohr, Oliver Strunk, Constantine Trypanis, and Milos Velimirovic.

General noteVol. 1-4 edited by Miloš Velimirović; v. 5 edited by Dimitri Conomos.
General note"[T]he Studies in Eastern Chant are intended to serve as a complement to the Monumenta Musicae Byzantinae editions, which will continue to publish extensive studies in book form. Studies in Eastern Chant will aim at assembling articles which because of their subject matter and technical requirements (blocks for musical notation and transcriptions) would not easily find a way into periodicals dealing with Byzantine studies in general."--Preface.
