By William Charles Cole Claiborne, governor of the Territory of Orleans, a proclamation Whereas, the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, did ... pass "An act further providing for the government of the Territory of Orleans" ... and whereas ... it is directed, "that the governor of the said territory shall cause to be elected twenty-five representatives ... Given under my hand ... at the city of New-Orleans, on the twenty-sixth day of July ... one thousand, eight hundred and five.
