| Abstract | Researchers have concluded that addiction counselors who demonstrate competency in microcounseling skills are more likely to establish a credible relationship with their clients. As a result, this tape contains both basic attending and basic influencing skills. While produced in the era of "black and white video" it is nevertheless a valuable tool. Each client on the tape suffers from alcohol addiction and is being trained as a peer counselor. They share their personal issues with the trainer/counselor and their struggle to curtail their alcohol dependency as they learned how to use microcounseling skills. |
