| General note | Dedicated "to the memory of the late Dr. Rush": p. [3]. |
| General note | Thesis (M.D.)--as originally presented to the University of Pennsylvania, 1820. A portion of the thesis (p. 25-27) was removed before its acceptance because of the author's "denunciation against nosology." Objection to the omitted matter, which eulogized the views of Dr. Benjamin Rush, was raised presumably by Dr., Nathaniel Chapman, professor of the theory and practice of medicine 1816-1850. (Cf. Pref. and Carson, Joseph. A hist. of the Med. Dept. of the Univ. of Penn., 1869, p. 174.). |
