Summary This report describes results of experiments and analyses that determine jet flow distribution from slotted pipes of dimensions typical for ocean thermal energy conversion (OC-OTEC) evaporators or condensers. For a pipe with a 6.3-cm inside diameter and 0.64-cm wide slot, the measured and predicted jet flow was low and nearly parallel to the pipe at the entrance, and high and perpendicular to the pipe only near the closed end. Friction reduces the pressure in the entrance and intermediate portions of the pipe, while the rapidly decelerating flow produces high pressure recovery as it approaches the closed end.
