Summary Populations of Bufo terrestris showing nucleolar organizing region polymorphisms and those showing no polymorphisms were studied to determine the extent of this phenomenon within a small geographic area (Eastern North Carolina). R-banding and C-banding patterns of these populations were studied and no chromosomal differences were found. Consideration was also given to evolutionary implications as well as possible mechanisms and causes of multiple nucleolar organizing regions.
