| Summary | This thesis through the use of a survey of current technology coordinators (TCs) will determine who is in the leadership role of TCs in schools today. The data obtained from the survey will be used to develop a profile of the current TCs. This profile will be compared to the job description found in current articles, papers and books which define the skills and knowledge that today's TCs should have. States and local boards of education are starting to allocate more and more resources to increase technology usage in their schools. Yet this new technology cannot just be placed in the schools without support personnel. Some authorities believe it requires at least one person at each school who can assist teachers in learning how best to utilize these new developments in their classrooms. This paper can be used by current TCs to help them better justify their job descriptions, proposed budgets, and future purchases. Future TCs can use this information to become more aware of what might be expected of them and what areas of expertise would be helpful for the job. In addition TCs can use this paper to justify budgets and proposed purchases of equipment and software. |
