Biographical noteWilliam Goyen (1915-1983) was an American novelist, short story writer, poet, playwright, editor and educator and was married to the actress Doris Roberts. He was a veteran of World War II, taught at a number of universities, and was also a senior trade book editor at McGraw-Hill in addition to writing.
