The letters themselves deal with friendship and scientific connections, arrangements for purchases and travel, the sending of seeds to colleagues, matters involving the Royal Society, of which Banks was president at the time. The letters are all from well-known contemporary scientists and botanists. Includes letters from several well-known contemporaries such as Benjamin Franklin, Augustus Broussonet and Giovanni Fabbroni.
