Abstract In the Verdi centenary concert Cura gave at London’s Barbican Concert Hall with soprano Daniela Dessì, he won the hearts of his audience with his powerful and charismatic performance of solos and duets from operas including Il trovatore, Il corsaro, Ernani, Don Carlo, Aida, La forza del destino and Otello. When the London Symphony played orchestral interludes, the celebrated tenor took over the baton from Pier Giorgio Morandi to show off another of his talents–as conductor.
