Abstract The intention in compiling these biographies is to acquaint the reader not only with the more celebrated soloists of the past, but also the many others who made American Band History. All started out as instrumentalists, however, many later became prominent conductors and composers. It is a book of factual material, musical and historical. The writer has endeavored to write a complete biography of each artist, in so far as possible.
