| Variant title | Delivering aid in Afghanistan |
| Abstract | This is a lesson starter for a KS3 citizenship lesson, looking at how the Red Cross delivers aid to Afghanistan. The clip explains the fact that food is expensive in Kabul because people can't grow enough crops. We follow the Red Cross trucks as they distribute food packages and other aid to people living in the outlying villages, and see how the villagers make use of what is delivered. The clip ends with some questions for students to discuss: What are the challenges in delivering aid? Should communities have a say in the type of aid they receive? For more information and ideas, see the supporting programme notes prepared by the Red Cross for Teachers TV. SOME CONTENT MAY BE UPSETTING. |
