Abstract In 1957 Hugh Tracey, founder of the International Library of African Music, recorded these songs and dances of Lunda from various provinces in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The recording was done in several mining compounds in both countries, where the Lunda went to find work, bringing their music and dance with them.
