Summary Written in 1982, no single model of dolomitization accounted for all aspects of any massively dolomitized ancient limestone. All models had significant flaws, and this publication summarized strengths and weaknesses of several of the models of the dolomitization process and its relation to other diagenetic processes (silicification, stylolitization, organic maturation, etc.). Several important aspects of dolomite mineralogy and chemistry are reviewed along with the contraints those place on all models.
