Abstract Program administrator and educator Loann Honesty King was born on December 10, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. She received her B.A. degree from Chicago Teachers College in 1963 and her M.A. degree in inner-city studies from Northeastern Illinois University in 1971. King began her career as a teacher and counselor in the Chicago Public Schools in 1963. In 1976, she became a consultant for the U.S. Department of Education. She was the associate director of jobs for Youth Chicago in 1980. She worked as grant coordinator for the Illinois Community College Board, Malcolm X College and City-Wide College. After serving as a dean at Olive-Harvey College, she was dean of instruction and vice president of student services and enrollment at Kennedy-King College from 2001 to 2003. With her husband, she established the Loann and Paul King Philanthropic Fund in 2001. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, King chaired the International Program Committee.
