Earning his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Morgan State College in 1952 and 1970, respectively, he earned an Ed.D. degree in 1978 from Wayne State University. Stanley began his career in education as a science teacher, becoming an administrator in the Baltimore City Public Schools. He served as principal at several schools before becoming an education liaison officer in the Office of the Mayor of Baltimore. When he retired from the public school system, he became an instructor at his alma mater, Morgan State University. He turned his attention to helping young people achieve spiritual growth and became involved in the National Black Catholic Congress, Inc. Stanley held membership in many prominent organizations. He earned honors and awards from several associations including being named a Knight of St. Gregory by Pope John Paul II. Stanley passed away on February 12, 2010, at age 78.;
