Abstract Politician Danny K. Davis was born in 1941, in Parkdale, Arkansas. Davis earned his B.A. degree from Arkansas A.M. & N. College in 1961. In Chicago, he taught at Magellan School from 1962 to 1969, receiving his M.S. degree in school guidance from Chicago State University in 1968, and his Ph. D. degree in public administration from Union Institute in 1977. He directed a number of community agencies including Westside Health Planning Organization through the early 1980s and taught in area colleges. In 1979, Davis won the aldermanic seat for Chicago's 29th Ward and became Ward Committeeman in 1984. Davis served until 1990, when he resigned to take a seat on the Cook County Board of Commissioners. Davis won the U.S. 7th Congressional District seat in 1996, Guinier worked in the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice and then headed the voting rights project at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in the 1980s.known as an outstanding public speaker and an effective legislator.
