Abstract Professor and author David Anthony Thomas was born in 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1974. Thomas earned his B.A. degree in administrative sciences from Yale University in 1978, and his M.A. degree in organizational sciences from Columbia College in 1981. Thomas earned his M.S. in philosophy and organizational behavior from Yale, and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior in 1986. Thomas taught at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania from 1986 to 1990. He joined Harvard University Business School in 1990 as an assistant professor and served as the H. Naylor Fitzhugh Professor, senior associate dean and director of faculty recruiting. Thomas was published in the Journal of Organized Behavior and the Administrative Science Quarterly. In 2001, he received the George E. Terry Award for outstanding management book for 1999's Breaking Through: The Making of Minority Executives in America.
