Abstract Corporate executive and politician James O. Webb was born on November 25, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio. Webb graduated from Morehouse College in 1953 with his B.A. degree and served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1957, Webb graduated from the University of Michigan with his M.B.A. degree in actuarial science. Webb worked for Mutual of New York, then joined Supreme Life Insurance. In 1966, he was hired at Illinois Blue Cross & Blue Shield as an assistant actuary. In 1984, Webb was recruited as head of the Dental Network of America, where he served as Chairman, President and CEO. In 1993, Webb was elected mayor of Glencoe, Illinois, where he would remain for two full four-year terms. He joined the Board of Directors at Harris Bank in 1994 and in 2001, he retired from his job as Mayor of Glencoe and moved to North Carolina, where he lived with his daughter.
