CAN -- the Competitiveness Analysis of Nations -- using data at the 2, 3 and 4-digit SITC level for 192 countries or territories, allows the user to track market share and structure with regard to the key regional markets and country groupings, including Western Europe, North America, Japan, all industrialized countries, Africa, developing America, developing Asia, and all developing countries. The time series covers 1985 to 1996 for most countries and regions. CAN allows the user to work in either English or Spanish, and is accompanied by a detailed instruction manual. Features of TradeCAN include: Specialized macros built into TradeCAN can produce tables and charts summarizing country competitiveness in regional and global markets, the share of high technology exports, and an index of technological specialization. Integrated Country Comparisons Contains several easy-to-use tools to analyze the data and interface in order to prepare reports rapidly Facilitates the Calculation of Market positioning Bilingual program to help toggle between Spanish and English TradeCAN is a joint product of the U.N.
