Variant title Fifteen minute case conceptualization
Abstract "So, what is a clinically valuable, i.e., highly effective approach to case conceptualization? Generally, clinicians expect that a case conceptualization approach will help them in at least two things. First, provide a useful explanation that will help a client understand why they are experiencing their presenting symptoms or conflict. Second, provide a useful guide in planning and implementing treatment. Some current case conceptualization approaches provide these. While both are necessary, they are not sufficient conditions for clinical utility and therapeutic effectiveness. Often, these approaches fail to provide what is essential to achieve positive clinical change while avoiding premature termination: a prediction of the clinical challenges and obstacles that are likely to be encountered as the therapy process unfolds starting with the first encounter"-- Provided by publisher.
