| Abstract | The goal of this study is to identify provider shortages in specialties (e.g. OB-GYN, psychiatrists, primary care) and in areas of the state experiencing persistent manpower shortages. This initiative also examines the needs of undeserved populations such as the uninsured and elderly. This NC Institute of Medicine study evaluates the state's past efforts to recruit and retain health professionals and to ensure that North Carolina has an adequate supply of providers distributed throughout the state. |
