Abstract This book approaches music from the dancer's viewpoint. It offers a two-part exploration of music as it relates to dance, beginning with an introduction to aspects of musicality that dancers (and other music lovers) can explore and put into practice immediately. The author then explains the production and transmittal of all musical sounds, discussing variables that pertain to dancers such as rhythm, dynamics, pitch, harmony and how to create music for unique dance purposes. The book concludes with an overview of the way dancers relate to music in class and onstage.
