| Abstract | "This book consists of a series of texts on the tantric teachings of Chakrasamvara that have been translated over the course of many years. This is not a scholarly work but one intended for practitioners. For that reason, annotations, notes, and so forth, have been kept to a minimum. The practice of Chakrasamvara should be done under the guidance of a qualified lama; therefore you should seek clarifications from him or her. The book begins with biographies of two important lamas of the Gelug tradition, Ngulchu Dharmabhadra and Yangchen Drupay Dorje. The main text in this book is a commentary on the five deity generation-stage practice of Heruka Chakrasamvara. This was an oral commentary given by Ngulchu Dharmabhadra in the nineteenth century, and the notes from this teaching were compiled by Yangchen Drupay Dorje into the text translated here. It is for this reason that I requested my lama, Gen Lobsang Choephel, to compose these two short biographies to serve as an introduction to the lives of these two illustrious lamas. The next text is a highly restricted and secret text on the completion stage of Chakrasamvara in the tradition of Ghantapa, composed by the First Panchen Lama Losang Ch̐uokyi Gyaltsen. This is the first time that any portion of this text has been translated into English. Next in the collection is Ngulchu Dharmabhadra's retreat instruction. While certain sections of this text have already been covered in the main commentary, this text provides essential instructions on the rituals necessary for completing a proper retreat on Chakrasamvara five deity. Part 2 is a collection of the relevant ritual texts. These will not only prove helpful for those wishing to engage in the practice, but will also serve as a reference for following the commentary"-- Provided by publisher. |
