Diary kept at Harvard, 1839-1842, describes daily activities at Harvard and elsewhere, trips to Boston for social events, social engagements with family and friends, happenings at school, church services attended, weekends in Nahant, Massachusetts, and trips to New York City, parts of New York state, Niagara Falls, Newport, Rhode Island, and other parts of Massachusetts during school breaks. Diary of voyage on ship DELHI, 1842-1843, to the East Indies and China describes weather and sailing conditions, activities aboard the ship, hunting porpoises and other animals, encounters with ships, and stops in Manila, Guangzhou (Canton), and Macau.
