Summary Naval and other maritime papers of Revolutionary naval officer and privateer Hector McNeill, 1765-1780. Includes correspondence between McNeill and Lord Alexander Colville regarding a coastal survey of the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia, 1765; a letter regarding the siege of Quebec from Benedict Arnold, 1776; papers related to McNeill's command of the ship BOSTON during the Revolutionary War, 1777; and a copy of an agreement for exchange of prisoners in St. John's, Nova Scotia and Boston, Mass., 1780, among other papers. Also includes a letter addressed to Henry Bancroft praising his efforts as captain of the ship SACHEM, 1821. Papers were collected by the Boston Marine Society.
