Also, a typescript of a diary or reminiscences, possibly written by John Allen of Marblehead, Mass., of a voyage to Cuba kept in June 1809, describing Allen's voyage from Portsmouth, N.H., to Cienfuegos, Cuba, and his brief stay in the city. Additional pieces by or about Allen include a description of his voyage on the privateer GENERAL ARMSTRONG and a battle with the ship CARNATION at Fayal, the Azores (September 1814) and biographical information on his childhood.
