| Abstract | This book identifies the common elements of the jazz vocabulary, demonstrates how this vocabulary is used characteristically in jazz solos, and presents a plan a student can follow to master the vocabulary through practice. The book is divided into four parts. Section I presents the basic jazz vocabulary, Section II demonstrates how this vocabulary is used to build effective solos, Section III contains numerous exercises and etudes that should be included in a comprehensive practice routine, and Section IV contains numerous vocabulary ideas. |
