Nelson, Professor of Music at U.C.L.A., writes of Stravinsky's variation technique; and Boris Schwarz of Queens College describes the vicissitudes of Stravinsky in Soviet Russian music criticism. Paul Henry Lang, editor of The Musical Quarterly, contributes an introduction interpreting Stravinsky's creative genius in terms of the composer's own goals.
