| Abstract | The discipline of keyboard harmony provides a vital and creative approach to the study of harmony in general. It helps the student to develop a lively sense of good chord progression, to hear mentally what he writes, and to master ex tempore keyboard harmonization, transposition, and improvisation. This textbook presents the material for such a course by covering the essentials of basic harmony practically applied to harmonic transposition and melody harmonization. Employing a method evolved from the author's long experience in teaching in this field, the book adds much new material to that condensed from the author's Keyboard Harmony and Improvisation. |
| General note | A clear, concise, and complete presentation of the principles of keyboard harmony for the beginner, covering melody and scales, keys, primary triads, non-harmonic tones, seventh chords, inversions, secondary sevenths, secondary dominants, [and] modulation. |
