Variant title Discretionary transportation grants: Department of Transportation should clarify application requirements and oversight activities
Running title GAO-22-104532 Discretionary transportation grants
Abstract The Department of Transportation has awarded more than $4 billion over 5 years through its Infrastructure for Rebuilding America program. The funding went to 94 nationally significant freight and highway projects. We previously found ways to improve the transparency and consistency of the program's application and award process. DOT now provides more information on the program's evaluation criteria to help clarify the process. But applicants still don't have enough information to help them make good decisions on whether and how to apply. Our recommendations address this issue and more.
